My mother never wears a lot of makeup, but she still never leaves the house without lipstick. I’ve watched her put on lipstick on our way to the gym, on the way to the grocery store, and on the way to the beach. My mother had never left the house without a coat of lipstick. More specifically, my mother has never left the house without at least one tube of MAC lipstick, and I’ve started to be the same way.
I love lipstick. I think it’s the most versatile makeup item that anybody can own. It comes in different formulas, different colors, and extremely different feels and looks. There is a lipstick for everyone.
To the dismay of my parents, I’ve always been more experimental with lipstick colors than my mother. I’ve never been a big fan of light pink colors, but I’ve always been drawn towards dark colors.
Stila makes an amazing line of matte liquid lipsticks that I’ve been a fan of for years now, and my favorite colors of that are Fresco, Patina, and Baci. My only complaint is that they can be a tiny bit drying, but if you put a layer of chapstick on before putting on the lipstick, there’s nothing to worry about. It stays on all day, and with the right color, there’s no need to put on any other makeup Perfect for when you wake up just a little bit late for Geology and you have to run out the door, but you don’t want to look like that.
I love red lipstick, and I always have, but I don’t wear it often. I have one red lipstick which I absolutely love, and it’s the Nars Audacious Lipstick in the shade Charlotte. It’s a great ruby red color, and Nars lipstick has always been a favorite of mine. I always pair it with a Nars Velvet Lip Liner in the shade Lanikai. It’s a great color combination together, and trust me, if you want to feel confident-wear a red lipstick.
And now, my favorite lipstick in the entire world, MAC lipstick. I’ve been impartial towards MAC lipstick for years, never really wanting to try anything else, and knowing that it’s great. I love the formula, love the different types of sheens they have, and the wide range of colors they have. My current favorite is in the Satin Finish and the color Faux. If you are new to wearing lipstick and really want to start with something good, I would go to MAC.
