Jeans, a guide

Jeans, a guide

I have to admit, I wear a lot of Lululemon. Like, a lot of Lulu, an aggressive amount. An amount that slightly concerns my father and many people around me. I don’t always wear ‘real pants’, but when I do, I have rules. I have so many rules about so many things that to normal people seem useless, but I have rules when it comes to jeans. Specific rules.

  1. No Skinny Jeans- I have a thing when it comes to skinny jeans. The thing is that I don’t like them, at all, and that I don’t understand why they are so popular. Literally, nobody looks good in skinny jeans. Stop wearing them, Please.
  2. Dark wash only from October to March- I don’t fully understand how this became a rule of mine, but I’ve realized that I’ve never work light wash jeans in the winter months. I wear dark wash jeans year round, but they’re all you’ll see when the nights get longer. They’re flattering, people, just wear them.
  3. Rips in Boyfriends Only-Ripped jeans are one of those polarizing things that most people really don’t like, or really really like, but I’ve found that the only way to wear them is to have them in boyfriend jeans. In flares or bootcuts they look odd, they looked fine in skinnies, but remember that skinnies are terrible. In boyfriend jeans, it adds to the whole idea of them being pre-worn and adds an extra edge.
  4. Ratty jeans are jeans that need to be thrown out- Boyfriend jeans are one thing, but ratty jeans are a different thing altogether. If your jeans look ratty, then it is time to throw them out and purchase a new pair. If you can’t remember when you bought your jeans and they look bad, throw them out. Or donate them! Donate as much of your clothes as you can.
  5. Don’t buy cheap jeans- Clothing can be expensive, but there isn’t a reason that you can’t invest in your appearance if you want your clothing to last. Cheap clothing acts how it’s supposed to, and if you buy something like jeans, which you’re likely to wear at least twice a week, you want them to last a couple of years. Spend the money now, instead of continuously spending it later.
  6. Try on every pair of jeans before buying them- I’ve been guilty of this before, and I know it’s tempting to just buy everything online, but try on your jeans. Jeans are made based off a model and what that model looks like that particular year. Usually, they use a size 2 or 4, and then change the measurements as necessary for larger sizes. Depending on how that model is carrying her weight that year, the way that your jeans fit will change. Try them on, and you’ll never know if something changes.

How To Do An At Home Blowout

A lot of people don’t spend the extra time and money to get a blowout after getting their hair cut. I am not one of those people. When I  go to get my hair cut, I do it all. Sure, it costs more money, but one of my favorite things in the world is having blown-out hair. If there was a DryBar down the street from my house, I would be there every other day. I love a good blowout.

The Six Kinds of Hair Products That You Need

The Six Kinds of Hair Products That You Need

When I was thirteen and fourteen, I blow dried and straightened my hair every single day. By the time that I went in to get a haircut, my poor hair was fried. Before then, I didn’t really care about maintaining my hair, but I knew the basics. I knew to wash it every other day, always use conditioner, and to use a leave-in conditioner when it got to tangly. I knew to use hairspray to make it stay, and that was it.

5 Easy ways to be healthy during college

5 Easy ways to be healthy during college

There are a million articles like this out there because the dreaded Freshman 15 is one of the scariest things in the world, to some people. I was terrified of the Freshman 15 before  I came to college, and was worried that no matter what I did, I would gain at least fifteen pounds in my first semester. I shouldn’t have been scared of that, because first of all, it doesn’t matter at all if I gained fifteen pounds, and second because I lost ten pounds during my first semester of college.  And here’s how I did it. Everything That You Need To Know Before Coloring Your Hair

Everything That You Need To Know Before Coloring Your Hair

I, like everyone else in the world, have always had a love-hate relationship with my hair. I’ve never really been happy with it, and I’ve always wanted to color it. However, my parents made a rule that I couldn’t dye my hair until I was both eighteen and able to pay for it myself. So, on July 20th, eight days after my eighteenth birthday, and twelve hours after I came back to the US, I booked an appointment to have my hair colored. How to Grocery Shop Like an Adult

How to Grocery Shop Like an Adult

Grocery shopping, I have realized, is something that a lot of people don’t know how to do. No, that’s wrong. A lot of college-aged people don’t know how to grocery shop for actual life, and not just for mixers and snacks at Target. Grocery shopping for real life, and to make real meals, is a very different thing and sometimes daunting.

I Love Lipstick

I Love Lipstick

My mother never wears a lot of makeup, but she still never leaves the house without lipstick. I’ve watched her put on lipstick on our way to the gym, on the way to the grocery store, and on the way to the beach. My mother had never left the house without a coat of lipstick. More specifically, my mother has never left the house without at least one tube of MAC lipstick, and I’ve started to be the same way. Continue reading “I Love Lipstick”
